Journey of Karmaarth

Chairman

We believe that “charity begins at home but should not end there”. The responsiveness and the need to bring some change in the society became an inevitable thought. The initiative was taken by Jagannath Gupta Memorial Educational Society in the year 2010 with its prime focus to increase the employment quotient among the under privileged youth of the Indian society and collectively increasing their literally skills by creating a source medium centre with no personal gain. The vision, mission and the success of such organization has its grounds on its constant growth and efforts initiated by skilled professionals and experts who have outgrown within a span of two years and inculcated relentlessly their efforts and energies towards the social cause. The man behind the idea, Mr. Manish Gupta the chairman of JIMS (Group of institutions) and the founder of ‘‘Karmaarth” a self owned Non governmental organization, contributed collectively to take a path which is socially responsible. The iniative is a setting example for those, who can individually; join hands than materializing the aspect behind a self owned social organization. It is a source giving opportunity to the underprivileged youth. To see such talent pool of youth who can deliver their best of their potential and can accept the reality of life that life is beautiful and that its their right to get the basic necessities of life was our aim, and to experience them nurture and blossom is an achievement and a heartening experience in itself.

The Thought

The idea started with a thought of reaching to the under privileged, mainly the aim was too dug out a source which would initiate a ray of hope to the underpoverished people. Keeping this in mind the idea reached a growth stage where now it stands. To reach out to the slum communities and attracting live people with their real life stories who were at a situation of being hand to mouth.

Achievements

With the advent of economic progression with the passing days, inflation reaching no boundaries the hard times of the impoverished classes started. Unemployment became a major issue which needed much concerns and had to be resolved. Karmaarth came as helping hands and as a source centre to people, who were looking for a hope. Few from many were the real task takers and iniated all their energies irrespective of any gain dedicated to this cause. It started with 40 beneficiaries from different age groups and classes coming together from Mangolpuri community. After this there was no looking back the number increased and reached to 2108. Its growth is tremendous and so the result foreseen. Nurturing women inherent talent was another cause which was iniated. Grooming them and enhancing their personality came out with zubilious colors. Through this they received the basic employment so that they can keep a head high attitude in the society. Every door was reached and knocked and a proper family counseling was done to showcase.

The activities that student undertake are life giving to them as they were clueless as to what they would do in life. Girls of all age groups and young boys who could not get a basic education were trained. They successfully participate in various competitions and are getting maximizing exposure that they can receive. From dancing to music to art making, free hand stitching, tailoring, hardware and software to mobile repairing all our taught by trained professionals

The children at the age of 6-14 were hand picked from urban slum communities who lost their childishness at an early stage. Education for them at Karmaarth became a ray of hope and light for them to become civilized human being in the society. Prioritizing the child education and employing the masses were the spirit of people working for Karmaarth

Objective

One of Karmaarth’s missions is to positively impact the underprivileged of the country through its educational process.  To give this a concrete shape, Jagannath Gupta Memorial Educational Society has begun a number of initiatives through its Karmaarth. The intent of Karmaarth is to better understand the issues at the grassroots level and build sustainable models that can then be made available to the country’s like-minded institutions and also to the world at large. It also gives an opportunity to the Institute to stay at the leading edge of technological and pedagogical research in the dissemination of education and training.

The education of these youth does not make them employable as per the current industry requirements and therefore their current competencies show up a lack of appropriate communication, grooming, etiquette and attitude. This reflects in their current personality venues make up that renders them as unemployable even at the entry level.  Karmaarth also works at motivating and providing supplementary education to school dropouts and other people who wish to learn short – term courses for   generating fixed income.

  1. Imparting primary education to slum children and connecting them to the mainstream schooling system
  2. Providing vocational training to the less educated or uneducated youth in order to make them employable.
  3. Re-establishing community practices by encouraging active participation of both males and females in various developmental programs.
  4. Promoting self-reliance through open forum discussions, and free counselling sessions.
  5. Developing community network initiatives for the marginalized and at-risk sections of the society.
